Allegheny Shredders' story begins with one man — John Wagner — setting out to out-perform the most powerful paper shredder of the day, a 7.5 Hp machine, and building something far heavier. Family-owned and still built in Delmont, Pennsylvania, ever since.
In 1971 John Wagner introduced the first heavy-duty industrial shredder in the paper industry — a 15 Hp machine — and never stopped scaling.
From the earliest days, Allegheny Shredders has been the shredding industry icon, and the originator of the high-capacity industrial shredder.
Founded by John Wagner in 1967 and still built where it started — now run by second-generation owners Jim and Tom Wagner.
Every stage happens on one Pennsylvania site — mechanical design, engineering, welding, wiring, assembly and the service that follows. No outsourced fabrication, no badge-engineered parts from someone else's factory. It's slower and it costs more to run a plant this way; it's also why the machines hold up.
Allegheny Shredders is family-owned and operated — many of the team, including members of the Wagner family, have been here twenty years or more, and the company is run today by the second generation, Jim and Tom Wagner. Everything is still designed, built and serviced under one roof in Delmont.
