Recyclers

Volume in, clean material out

Recyclers and scrap processors live on throughput and recovery. Allegheny Shredders builds the high-throughput industrial shredders and recycling lines that break down end-of-life material all shift — and keep running — so more feedstock moves through and more clean material comes out the other side.

Throughput is only worth it if the line stays up

On a recovery line, every stoppage is lost tonnage. The economics come down to three things: how much you can push through, how clean and separable the output is, and what it costs to keep running. We build for all three.

High-throughput paper and Particle Cut lines for bulk material, core shredders for cores and plastics, and hard-drive lines for drives at volume.

Built to fit your program

Many of our recyclers work to R2v3 or e-Stewards. Those certify your facility, not our equipment — so we focus on what the machine controls: destroying media to a defined particle and sizing output for your downstream and documentation. We're an i-SIGMA Corporate Partner with Made-in-USA machines, and we build to recognized destruction standards on request.

Destruction standards

We build to recognized standards including NIST SP 800-88 and DIN 66399. Tell us the standard and level you work to and we'll confirm the configuration.

NIST SP 800-88

The US guidelines for media sanitization. They set out three methods: Clear, Purge and Destroy. Shredding is a Destroy method, the highest of the three.

DIN 66399

The international standard that grades shred size into security levels, separately for each type of material.

  • P · paper, film and printing forms
  • O · optical media — CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray
  • T · magnetic media — data tape, floppy disks, ID cards
  • H · hard drives
  • E · electronic media — SSDs, USB sticks, memory cards

On a recovery line, downtime is the cost that matters. Wear parts, service and support come direct from the manufacturer — so you can keep material moving and cost per ton down.

Recycler questions

What materials can the lines handle?

Paper, cardboard and plastics at volume, cores and bottles on the core shredders, and e-scrap (e-waste), including hard drives and SSDs, on the Particle Cut line, which also takes mixed bulk material.

Do you make a cardboard shredder?

Yes — the paper and Particle Cut lines shred cardboard and packaging at volume, and the core shredders take cardboard cores and tubes; we size the output for baling or recycling.

Can I size the output for downstream separation?

Yes — cutter and screen choices set the finished particle so it suits your separation and resale. Tell us the downstream and we'll configure to it.

Are these built for all-shift running?

Yes — continuous-duty machines up to 200 HP on the 36-Series, built heavy, with wear parts and service direct from the plant.

Do you supply conveyors, tippers and balers too?

Yes — infeed and output conveyors, 880/HLS tippers, auto-feed and balers are engineered to match the line. See the "Pairs with" options on each machine page.
